Beltie Friends,

This past year was an exciting time for the the Southwest Belted Galloway Association. The SBGA sponsored a great Education Field Day in April in Blanco, Texas and a ranch tour of

Bob and Sheri Riley’s beautiful ranch near Blanco. There we experienced a hands-on show animal clipping demonstration by Dawson Masters. Following that we enjoyed fellowship and a meal of Bob Riley’s famous BBQ and fixins.

On May 21, 2016 the SBGA sponsored a Belted Galloway Show and Sale at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds in Fredericksburg, Texas. The show was well attended with entries from as far away as Uphill Farms in New York.

For those of you who were unable to attend the SBGA Fall Gathering sponsored by Tom and Judy Shaw and Chris and Claire Johnson in Mckinney, Texas all I can say is that you missed something really special. On November 5, 2016 we were treated to breakfast and an excellent educational program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in McKinney. Later that evening we retreated to the Shaw’s beautiful Cardinal Ranch near Leonard, Texas where we relaxed with a ranch tour, great fellowship, and a truly sumptuous meal.

On Friday April 28, 2017 the SBGA will sponsor an educational Field Day event in conjunction with the Spring Show/Sale held on Saturday April 29 at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds in Fredericksburg, Texas. There will be a pen show for those beltie owners who do not wish to participate in the full fit and finish of the show ring. The sale portion of our show this year will be by private treaty with pens available for sale animals.

The SBGA is seeking a venue for an event to be held in the Fall if anyone has ideas or is willing to volunteer their ranch please contact one of the SBGA Board members.

There is a lot going on in the wonderful world of Belties so please join us in making it another great year.

Gary Marshall, President SBGA
